Pay By Plate MA accounts are valid only on MassDOT roadways

Pay By Plate MA provides customers electronic toll collection through video images of vehicle license plates.

As you travel under a toll zone location (gantry), your license plate number is captured and your toll is collected through one of the following Pay By Plate payment options.

Invoice Account – ($0.60 fee applied per invoice)

If your license plate is not listed on any other valid toll payment account i.e. E-ZPass, your vehicle information is obtained through a license plate look-up. Once the toll trip is created an invoice is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. Future travel will result in the issuance of a monthly invoice if no account is established. An invoice fee applies for each invoice issued.

If your invoice is not paid by the due date, additional fees will be assessed for each month it remains unpaid.

Only 2-axles, 4-tires passenger vehicles
Only one license plate per account

Automatic Account Replenishment (Prepaid)

Assign a credit card, debit card or checking account number to your account, your $20.00 Initial payment will be paid through your assigned choice.

As tolls are incurred, they will deduct from the initial payment. When your account balance becomes low, your account will be automatically replenished through your assigned choice.

Your replenishment amount will be periodically reviewed and may be changed to accurately reflect your average monthly toll usage.

Automatic Account Payment (Postpaid)

Assign a credit card, debit card or checking account number to your account. Your account will be automatically charged for your toll usage through your assigned choice at the end of your 30-day cycle. No invoice issued.

Manual Account Replenishment (Prepaid)

Must apply at one of our Customer Service Centers

Open your account with cash, credit or check to pay the $20.00 initial payment.

When tolls inure, they deduct from your initial payment. It is your responsibility to track your balance and replenish your account to pay your tolls.
